Girls JO - Assistant Program Gymnastics Team Coach

Purpose:  The purpose of this Assistant Team coach is to work closely with the Program Head Coach to meet the needs of, and support the growth of, the competitive gymnastics teams – particularly of our many existing and developed Jr. Olympic and Xcel levels.  The right person must be prepared to take the place of the Head Coach as needed when they are away and be ready to lead a group of students at any level assigned.  General responsibilities will likely also include higher level recreation classes, and team development classes, as well as student move ups and evaluation days.  This is an important leadership position working with a powerful team of leaders with lots of room for growth personally, professionally, and financially.  There are opportunities to support either the MEN'S or WOMEN'S programs - or work in both programs.

There are two position's open and available immediately.

Hours per week:  Full-time - 6 days per week.  The main  coaching hours are afternoons, evenings, and Saturday's.  Plus competition travel, planning, meetings, etc.

Pay:  commensurate with the background and experience of the applicant.  $22-25/ hour.  Additional pay is available for session based competitions and travel as well as private lesson income.  CSC offers an excellent benefits package, a 401K retirement contribution, PTO accrual schedule and year end bonuses based on years of service with the company.

Qualifications:  All applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. with  US Citizenship and proper work Visa's before an application will be considered.  Former competitive gymnastics and coaching experience is required with specific level history in the Men's Program with USA Gymnastics or similar with a focus on Jr. Olympic gymnastics.  Must be a high energy, positive and supportive person who is excited about working with kids of all ages and levels all the time.

Training/Education:  Conditions of employment include: CPR, First Aid certification within the first 30 days and an "active" Professional Membership with USA Gymnastics.  A BS degree in Physical Education or Kinesiology or the equivalent would be ideal, but is not required.

Skills:  Excellent and proven communication and planning skills; leadership skills dealing with children; organizational skills, outgoing and energetic.  A proven spotter on skills equal to the position assigned.  BOYS AND GIRLS PROGRAM POSITIONS ARE OPEN.

Duties: 

  • Teach/Coach kids!!!  Spotting required of all skills commensurate with the levels required.
  • Promote, and demonstrate, safe and developmentally appropriate learning.  An understanding of the PCA would be very helpful.
  • Work toward advancement.  Be acting Head Coach / event leader as assigned.
  • Develop gymnasts at all levels with specific event responsibility to assigned levels.
  • Develop and/or follow a lesson plans designed for your group/level - know your rotation schedule.
  • Attend/Lead “shadow coaching” or other training assignments as agreed or assigned.
  • Assist with facility maintenance, equipment planning and safety, and general cleanliness.
  • Communicate with fellow employees, students, and parents on a regular basis.
  • Maintain accurate roll on a daily basis for all classes/groups you are responsible for.
  • Maintain skill cards and charts (progress reports) for every student/group as assigned.
  • Attendance matters.  Teams are taught Mon-Sat and competitions are weekends in season.
  • Understand and follow all CSC policies and procedures; read and follow team documents; know and be involved in all aspects of the local, regional. and national USA Gymnastics program.
  • Attend community events when asked and available - with athletes.
  • Attend/Teach CSC University Clinics & Labs when possible.  Be open to learning.
  • Other duties as assigned.
